Why the Residents' Association was formed
Greenbank Residents' Association was formed in response to a planning application submitted by Dappa Homes to create several football pitches, a car park and a changing block on Greenbank playing fields. The entire football facility was to be surrounded by high fencing, and was to be locked. The facility was to be used by a football club from East Manchester whose existing training facilities were to be built on by Dappa Homes. Following much local opposition, the application was withdrawn.
The football pitches were to be surrounded by high fencing, which would have spoiled Greenbank's beautiful open views.
